Using an Embossing Folder to Stamp with Stampin' Up!

I really love the patterns in our collection of Textured Impressions Embossing Folders.  I was curious to play around with them to see what looks I could achieve by adding ink. Some of my results were better than others. I wanted to share my successes and some tips.

I used the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the first card I created. I gently dabbed VersaMark ink to the raised surface of the hexagon outlines. Don’t use too much pressure—just gently tap the pad onto the raised surface. Next, insert paper into the folder, then carefully close the folder. (Any shifting of the paper can smear the ink, so it is important to do this step very carefully.) Using either a Bone Folder or a Brayer, apply pressure across the embossing folder. Hold one end while you do this step to keep the paper from moving. Carefully open the folder. (On this card, I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.) Remove excess powder before melting it with a Heat Tool.

The next card I created using two different embossing folders. Using the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, I added small white dots to the card base using Whisper White Craft ink. I also added a little faux stitch to the tag with the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and Bermuda Bay ink.

Since the folders are clear, it’s easy to see when ink has been applied to other areas of the folder. Carefully wipe off excess ink before inserting paper into the folder.

I made the last project a little bit differently. I added ink to the raised surface of the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder before running it through the Big Shot. I used a brand new In Color—Strawberry Slush—for my ink and cardstock. I really like the subtle variation in color created by tone-on-tone stamping.

Cleaning up the inked embossing folders is a breeze. I simply ran them under some water in the sink and dried them with a paper towel.

Although this technique can be a little tricky, I love finding new uses for tools I already have. So go ink up your embossing folders and have some fun!

January Scrappin' Meeting

Two Page Birthday Layout

To follow the challenge "For The Kids" over at Stampin' Up! Only challenges, I have decided to show this double birthday scrapbook layout.  Because we all know that when it come to our kids we have tons of birthday pictures.  Birthdays are completely for the kids; we adults tend to let them slip by as we get older :)  To go with the Spongebob theme, I anchored the page's color around Daffodil Delight.  I just love all of the paper piercing on the first page, and I even used crystal effects to make the cupcakes look nice and yummy.

Pennant Punch Card

By far one of the most exciting items for me in the new catalog is the Pennant Punch builder set.  Here is a card a fellow demonstartor did that shows the beauty of this punch set.  I can only image all of the possibilities of this new punch.  And what makes it even better is the stamp set that coordinates the punch.  I just cannot wait for this one to arrive in the mail.

A New Saturday Sketch

Here is the newest layout for this weeks challenges from Stamping 411 and SUO Challenges.  A good friend of mine who happens to be a coworker was my inspiration for this card.  She is our ELL (English Language Learners) teacher, and a super great person.  She works with a large population of Hispanic students in our school.  Well, one of the things that I love about Stampin' Up! is that their products come in multiple languages, and this weeks shows with my birthday card being completely in Spanish just for her.

The sentiments read Congrats Enjoy Celebrating, with the designer paper reading Celebrate Party Dream Wish.
