This week The Paper Players Challenge #137 is a clean and simple sketch that just called out to me. 

 

I just love both clean and simple (CAS) cards and scrapbooking pages as you can probably tell from my style of work.  I just could not pass up this challenge.  I decided to throw some springy colors into a birthday card.

It's a Treasure Hunt!!

Playing Along with a Few Sketch Challenges

I was inspired by the card sketch over on Mojo Monday, so I thought I would put one together. 

I also took a peek at SUO challenges this week to see what they had, and thought that the "Congratulations" theme could play perfectly into this sketch.  So here is what I came up with.

I needed a card for an upcoming baby shower, now I have one :)

Playing Along with a Few Sketch Challenges

My First Attempt At Watercoloring

I decided today to play along with the SUO Challenge 19 of May Flowers.  I used the stamp from the On the Grow set and thought I would try water coloring the image.  I have never tried water coloring before, but I have had the aqua painters for a while now.  So I gave it a go.

Not too bad for my first try.  I really like how easy it was to start with the markers and use the aqua painters to push the color around the image.  I did learn that this is done best on watercolor paper.  It does not do as well when you try to use regular cardstock.

It is nice to sit back on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and get my creative juices flowing.  This week I am playing along with The Paper Players and Stamping 411.  The color combination over at The Paper Players was such a refreshing combination that I just could not resist.

Sunday Challenges

A New Saturday Sketch

Here is the newest layout for this weeks challenges from Stamping 411 and SUO Challenges.  A good friend of mine who happens to be a coworker was my inspiration for this card.  She is our ELL (English Language Learners) teacher, and a super great person.  She works with a large population of Hispanic students in our school.  Well, one of the things that I love about Stampin' Up! is that their products come in multiple languages, and this weeks shows with my birthday card being completely in Spanish just for her.

The sentiments read Congrats Enjoy Celebrating, with the designer paper reading Celebrate Party Dream Wish.
Paper:  From the "Lo Mejor De Todo" Simply Scrappin' Kit, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Red Riding Hood Red, and selected designer series paper from the kit.

A New Saturday Sketch

Starting with Challenges

I have been told that a way to get one's creative juices flowing is to participate in challenges.  This week I am  participating in SUO Challenge 14: Favorite Retired Set and Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge #195.  My favorite SU set of all time is the Fire Brigade set, probably because my husband is a volunteer fireman.

I kept this a clean and simple card.  It utilizes the colors daffodil delight and cherry cobbler.  I added a touch of authentic detail by literally setting the edges on fire and letting it get a burn effect with a little smoke.  This will make a great little thank you for the men and women of the fire department that do so much for our community.
